Paraiba Tourmaline

I had a real crush on this stone the first time I saw it.

This blue-green tourmaline was discovered in 1987 in the mountains of the Brazilian state of Paraiba.

It is not easy to define this magical colour that has never been seen before.

It ranges from blue-green to green-blue, including the famous "neon" blue.

The presence of copper and manganese explains this unique colour.

The proportion between these two metals makes the stone bluer or greener.

 Its appearance created a sensation in the world of jewellery and aroused an immediate craze.

Brazilian mines are exhausted and most of the Paraiba tourmalines currently come from Mozambique.
